Bac Giang are ready for the big sports festival
Starting up preparation
“Currently, the related departments, agencies, localities and units have been building specific and detailed plans for implementation”, according to Tran Minh Ha, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, permanent Deputy Head of the local Organising Board for Badminton Competition at SEA Games 31 in Bac Giang province.

The provincial Sports Competition Hall of Bac Giang province had been used as field Hospital No.2 to treat Covid-19 patients for 9 months (from May 2021 to January 2022), thus several items were degraded and damaged.
“The Competition Hall can provide about 4,500 seats. In order to prepare for the competitions, the Center collaborated with relevant agencies to check up then upgrade, repair and replace all damaged and degraded items. We are equipping some flag poles, 20 lighting systems and competition carpets complying with the international standards. Besides, we are designing a starting up building to serve athletes before competition”, said Bui Ngoc Anh, Director of the provincial Center of Sports Training and Competition.
The Organising Board will arrange enough functional rooms such as the information technology, communication and transmission line center, divisions of security, medicine and doping testing, recovery room for athletes, rooms for volunteers, reporters, meetings, coaches and international supervisors.
In addition, the advertising and decoration in Bac Giang city, the districts’ center and along Hanoi - Bac Giang Expressway have been paid attention to create cheerful atmosphere. Related agencies also made plans for tourism promotion.
According to Luu Xuan San, Director of the Tourism Information and Promotion Center of Bac Giang province, the center prepared to print nearly 1,000 tourism handbooks with QR code introducing the province’s tourism attractions in Vietnamese and English languages to provide delegates and visitors. Besides, they built some tours and routines in the province to serve tourists.
Ensuring safety
In order to guarantee Covid-19 prevention and control, the Organising Board built 3 plans during the days of competitions based on the epidemic situations, which are no audience, providing not more than 20 percent of seats for audiences and providing not more than 50 percent of seats for audiences. Audiences and cheerleaders will not have to buy tickets. The Covid-19 preventive measures will be strictly implemented with medical declaration, vaccination certificate, temperature check, wearing facemask and distance between seats.
According to Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, the Department will direct relevant units to establish a first aid team at the provincial Competition Hall and arrange beds and treatment rooms at the provincial General Hospital during the event.
The delegations of athletes will stay at Muong Thanh Hotel (Bac Giang city). This is a 4-star hotel with 195 rooms which can serve from 350 to 370 paxes. According to the hotel representative, they will mobilize employees from other hotels of the Group to serve the guests.
As this is a big event with participation of many countries, the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs will cooperate with the provincial Youth Federation, Department of Education and Training to recruit 60 volunteers who are proficient in foreign languages to serve the event under the principle that each volunteer will act as a friendly, enthusiastic and hospitable ambassador.
Specially, the provincial Department of Public Security made detailed plans for ensuring security, order and traffic safety.
With an early and careful preparation in line with high determination, this event is believed to take place successfully and safely affirming the province’s competence and experience to orginise regional and international competitions and contributing to promoting the image, land and people of Bac Giang.
