In 2024, the province approved support for the construction and repair of 1,498 houses with a total funding of approximately 86 billion VND (3.78 million USD) sourced from social contributions.

Among these, 233 houses were built for families of revolutionary contributors, 968 for poor and near-poor households, 195 for ethnic minority households in specially difficult areas, and 102 for beneficiaries under the national sustainable poverty reduction programme for 2021-2025.

By the end of December 2024, all planned houses were handed over to recipients.

For 2025, Bac Giang used funds saved from 5% of its 2024 regular expenditure budget to continue the programme.

The province approved support for 798 houses worth more than 94 billion VND, including 221 for revolutionary contributors, 473 for poor and near-poor households, 62 for ethnic minority families in specially disadvantaged areas, and 42 under the national poverty reduction programme.

As of June 2025, the province had handed over all approved houses, completing the programme earlier than required by the Government.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee Nguyen Viet Oanh praised the efforts of authorities at all levels, mass organisations, donors, and local people for their contributions.

He called on organisations, businesses, and philanthropists to continue supporting disadvantaged people to stabilise their lives and thrive.

At the event, outstanding individuals and organisations were honoured for their achievements in implementing the programme, which has contributed to promoting solidarity and human values in Bac Giang society.

19 localities eradicate substandard houses

Four more provinces have announced the completion of efforts to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing, bringing the total number of localities achieving this milestone to 19 out of 63 nationwide, according to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

Out of 813 approved projects, Bac Giang province has started construction on 343 houses, with 82 completed and handed over to families in need.

 

Bac Giang to eliminate substandard houses by November

Local authorities have identified 795 homes of poor and near-poor households and individuals with recognised service to the nation that qualify for support. Of these, 475 require complete reconstruction and 320 need significant repairs, with estimated costs totaling 39 billion VND (1.53 million USD).

 

Over 121,600 dilapidated houses removed nationwide

Across the country, provinces and cities are mobilising all available resources to eliminate inadequate housing, ensuring stable living conditions for low-income families, social policy beneficiaries, and individuals with meritorious service.
