The units and localities in the province have actively involved and made great efforts in eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing for poor and nearly poor households and national contributors following the plan and directives of the provincial Steering Committee.

However, 51 approved households in the province have not started construction as of 15 May 2025.

In order to fulfill the target to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing by 15 June 2025 for conclusion of the programme in 2025, Chairman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee and Head of the provincial Steering Committee for eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing made some requests to related agencies and localities.

The steering committees for eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing of the districts, townships and city are urged to pay highly attention to communicating, mobilizing and accelerating the cases approved under Decision No 441/QĐ-UBND of the provincial People’s Committee to start construction before 15 June 2024.

The Department of Construction is requested to review and take careful consideration for specific cases including national contributors and beneficiaries of the National Target Program on sustainable poverty reduction, who had been approved but they are requesting for adjustments to the approval.

For cases deemed appropriate and necessary, the Department shall submit them to the provincial People’s Committee for approval of adjustments. Besides, it needs to collaborate with the district-level people’s committee to accelerate commencement of construction no later than 15 June 2025.

For the 17 cases of poor and nearly poor households in Viet Yen township whose land issues have been resolved, the Steering Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee and the “For the poor” Fund Management Board of Viet Yen township were requested to allocate fund to support approved households living in temporary and dilapidated houses.

The support levels are 60 million VND (2,300 USD) per household for new construction and 30 million VND (1,150 USD) per household for repairs.

644 social housing projects launched nationwide

As of December 2024, a total of 644 social housing projects have been launched across the country, with a planned scale of 580,109 units. Among these, 96 projects have been completed, delivering 57,652 units; 133 projects are currently under construction, accounting for 110,217 units; and 415 projects have received investment approval, with a planned scale of 412,240 units.
