Bac Giang finishes second at national traditional wrestling championship
BAC GIANG - The 29th National Traditional Wrestling Championship wrapped up in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province, with Bac Giang team finishing second overall.
The annual event, jointly organized by the Nghe An provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Sports Administration and the Vietnam Wrestling Federation took place from May 12 to 18.

This year’s tournament featured 200 wrestlers from 17 teams, including those from Ninh Binh, Bac Ninh, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Hanoi, the People’s Army, the Public Security Forces and host Nghe An.
Competitions were held across 18 weight categories, ranging from 48 kg to over 130 kg. After a week of competition and 230 matches, organizers awarded 18 sets of medals: each set included one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Bac Giang sent 13 wrestlers competing in categories from 54 kg to over 100 kg and won a total of seven medals: two golds, one silver, and four bronzes.
The gold medals went to To Minh Hau (78 kg) and Mac Quang Huy (over 100 kg).

Hanoi topped the medal table with three golds, four silvers and four bronzes, followed by Bac Giang in second and host Nghe An in third with two golds and four bronzes.
The event aims to promote traditional wrestling nationwide, celebrate Vietnam’s martial heritage and help identify talent for future international competitions.
