Bac Giang strives to do away with substandard houses by June
Out of 813 approved projects, Bac Giang province has started construction on 343 houses, with 82 completed and handed over to families in need.
The northern province of Bac Giang is working to wipe out temporary and dilapidated houses by June, helping improve living conditions for vulnerable residents.

Progress thus far shows significant momentum in the housing renovation programme. Out of 813 approved projects, construction has started on 343 houses, with 82 completed and handed over to families in need.
Some districts have emerged as leaders in the initiative, including Yen The, Luc Nam, and Lang Giang. However, others such as Hiep Hoa, Luc Ngan, Chu, and Viet Yen have made slower progress.
The province has taken steps to address challenges, particularly land-related issues that have hindered housing improvements. Of the 605 identified land-related complications, officials have resolved 51 cases and expect to clear an additional 242 by May 2025.
To accelerate the programme, provincial authorities are implementing a range of strategies, including enhanced oversight of the work, mobilising funds, and ensuring timely capital disbursement.
BAC GIANG- Due to impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, a number of companies had to downsize employees from 2021 to 2024, thus room rental service in northern province of Bac Giang had declined. Facing pressure to pay bank interest from the loans to build houses for rent, many households had to sell their real estates to pay the debts. However, this service has been in high demand again since mid- 2024.
BAC GIANG - Following the Government's directions, Bac Giang province is accelerating the implementation of its 2025 programme to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, with the goal of completing the task by June 2025, four months ahead of the original deadline.
Ministries, sectors and localities ought to ensure the construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and industrial park workers during 2021–2030, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told a national teleconference on this issue on March 6.
As of February 14, local authorities have provided support for people living in more than 106,000 temporary and dilapidated houses to build new houses, moving closer to the goal of eliminating such housing by the end of 2025.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on January 12 chaired the second meeting of the central steering committee for the eradication of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide to assess the work in 2024 and put forward tasks for this year.
As of December 2024, a total of 644 social housing projects have been launched across the country, with a planned scale of 580,109 units. Among these, 96 projects have been completed, delivering 57,652 units; 133 projects are currently under construction, accounting for 110,217 units; and 415 projects have received investment approval, with a planned scale of 412,240 units.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued an official dispatch emphasising the urgent need to address obstacles hindering the progress of social housing projects, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of social housing development and meet the growing demands of people.
