Bac Giang concentrates on electricity projects
BAC GIANG- Bac Giang Electricity Company is assigned as investor of 15 new construction projects and others of improving medium and low voltage grids in 2025. Although they have been allocated adequate fund and commenced since late 2024, many projects in Viet Yen township and Bac Giang city face slow progress due to obstacles in land clearance.
Among total 15 projects, there are 9 projects constructing and improving electricity grids in 8 branches (except for Son Dong Electricity Branch) and 6 projects enhancing quality of medium and low voltage grids in 2024-2025 for public substations in Lang Giang, Hiep Hoa, Tan Yen and Luc Nam districts and Bac Giang city, totaled some 219.5 billion VND (8.56 million USD).

According to the Project Managing Board of Bac Giang Electricity Company, electrical grid projects must be completed to connect power by March 31; however, several items (including medium voltage electrical grid systems) in Van Ha commune and Nenh town, Viet Yen township and Noi Hoang ward, Bac Giang city are facing obstacles when local people disagree with land clearance and obstruct the construction.
In order to complete the power projects on schedule, the people’s committee of Viet Yen township directed the communes, wards and related units to highly concentrate on supporting land clearance for the projects.
Local governments, agencies and unions were urged to actively collaborate with the electricity agency to promote communication to make the relating households understand about the significance of the electrical projects and timely hand over land to build foundations and pillars of the substations, which was expected to complete by February 25.
In case the households have been accounted for adequate compensation in accordance with law but they consistently oppose land clearance, the wards and communes have to make plan to protect or force construction, complete by March 10.
However, a number of local people tried to obstruct construction, thus, the people’s committee of Nenh ward had to send the functional force to protect the construction site of the substations in Hoang Mai residential group.
According to Vice Director of Bac Giang Electricity Company Bach Hong Quan, the company is collaborating with the people’s committees of Bac Giang city and Viet Yen township together with related wards and towns to mobilise for people’s consensus.
If the households still obstruct construction, the local governments were requested to conduct coercive measures or protect the construction sites so that the electrical grid projects can be completed on schedule.
