Bac Giang creates "new wind" to develop high quality services
BAC GIANG - For several consecutive years, Bac Giang has become a bright spot in the country’s economic growth, but services are still a “depressed area” which is not commensurate with the growth momentum. To boost services and increase their proportion in the economic structure, it is crucial to have long-term, breakthrough solutions, especially attracting high-quality services.
In recent years, the province's economy has made remarkable progress, with economic growth rates always among the leading localities in the country. the average growth rate for the 2016-2023 period hit 13.6% per year.

Notably, in 2023, economic growth reached 13.45%, ranking first in the country, GRDP per capita reached 3,950 USD, up 10%, exceeding the plan by 3% (ranked 23rd in the country).
The local economy has continuously obtained high growth, the number of foreign investment projects in the province is increasing. This creates a gradual increase in the income of residents. The province lures a large number of foreign workers and experts (high-income laborers) coming to live and work.
The urbanization process is being accelerated, the development of connecting transport infrastructure has shortened the distance between Bac Giang and developed provinces and cities (Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, ...), between rural and urban areas.
Moreover, Bac Giang is close to the development centers of the country, located on the economic corridor of Nanning - Lang Son - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, with full roads, railways and waterways.
These are very favorable conditions to promote the development of service industries to better serve the needs of people and businesses.
To meet the development requirements, shopping and consumption needs of the people when the living standard increases, Bac Giang has attracted investment, initially forming a number of modern shopping centers and areas.
Up to now, the whole province has 5 commercial centers, 5 supermarkets, 12 mini supermarkets, 631 general convenience stores, 65 wholesalers of food and essential goods, 69 warehouses with a total are of over 20 thousand square meters.
Notable facilities are the GO! Bac Giang supermarket of Central Group Corporation, Vincom Plaza shopping mall of Vincom Retail Operating Company Limited. In addition to diverse goods, products with clear origin, there is also an entertainment area.
A number of high-class hotels, Hapro Bac Giang General Service and Trade Center, Voi Town Trade Center were established. Several large commercial and service projects have been completed phase 1 and put into operation, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the province in general and creating new momentum for the growth of the province's service industry in particular, such as: Yen Dung Golf Course and Service Investment Project; Viet Yen Golf Course; Bac Giang Golf Course and Resort; Muong Thanh Bac Giang Hotel Complex...
In general, the commercial service sector has had positive changes in recent times. Commercial activities have been expanded with the participation of many economic sectors, helping satisfy the needs of production and consumption.
Also, it contributes to the overall growth of the economy and the process of economic restructuring and labor restructuring towards industrialization and modernization.
The province has attracted a number of major brands to invest in the service sector such as: Vingroup, FPT, Go and Co.opmart.
According to Vu Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, fully aware of the importance of service development, the Department is advising the province to issue a Resolution on developing a number of key service sectors in the period 2024-2030.
When the Resolution is issued, it will mobilize more investment resources as "new wind" to the province's trade and services, creating new momentum for local socio-economic development.
