Bac Giang creates raw material areas and linkage chains to expand export market for farm produce
BAC GIANG – The agricultural production value is increased by ensuring both domestic consumption needs and export market, especially to demanding and high-end markets. To achieve this goal, in addition to meeting the technical barriers of importing countries, Bac Giang province focuses on building large-scale, concentrated raw material areas and creating quality products to supply to the market.
Phuc Hoa commune in Tan Yen district grows early ripening lychees in a concentrated area with a scale of more than 700 hectares, the largest in the province. The locality has been granted more than 20 lychee growing area codes for export to China, Japan, Thailand and Australia.
Dong Phu commune in Luc Nam district builds an area to grow soybeans and vegetables for export. |
In previous years, thanks to much much better quality of local fruits than other communes, the products were successfully exported to many countries, including demanding markets like Japan, Australia, some European countries and others.
This year, the commune has high flowering and fruit bearing rate. At this time, it is in the young fruit stage, the tree is growing and developing well, promising a bumper harvest and good selling price.
Experience shows that to bring the lychee further, the product quality is the key factor. The specialized agencies of the province and Tan Yen district have selected potential growing areas then organized systematic production based on exploiting the strengths of the available experience of local lychee growers.
Each area code has a production team with a leader. The caring and harvesting processes are cross-supervised, ensuring compliance with technical procedures. During testing samples for assessment before export, products in the region all met the standards set by the importing country.
Product quality is a vital factor to maintain a sustainable chain from production to consumption. This is the guiding spirit throughout the province's agricultural production.
Therefore, not only the early ripening lychee growing area, in recent years, Tan Yen district has also paid attention to expanding the area and production areas in line with VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards to meet domestic consumption and export.
The district maintains star apple growing area codes for export in communes of Tan Trung, Hop Duc, Lien Son and Cao Thuong town; builds vegetable raw material areas for processing and ginseng growing areas with production links in several communes.
Along with Tan Yen, other localities also focus on building concentrated production areas and raw material areas for export.
As an area with strengths in agricultural production, Luc Nam district has built a large-scale concentrated fruit and vegetable growing area such as: Lychee (nearly 6,000 hectares); sugar apple (more than 1,700 hectares); longan (750 hectares); vegetables for processing (4,000 hectares)... mostly in the communes of Tam Di, Chu Dien, Dong Phu, Bao Dai...
This year, Dong Phu commune plants 175 hectares of vegetable soybeans (increased about 50 hectares compared to 2023). The Global Import-Export Joint Stock Company in Luc Ngan district and another overseas enterprise signed a contract to purchase products of more than 100 hectares at a stable price.

According to local orientation and planning of production areas, many households in the commune continue to change their crop structure, choosing to grow vegetables for high economic efficiency.
Representatives of the district Department of Agriculture and Rural Development assessed that centralized production has facilitated the application of scientific and technical advances, mechanization and promoted production links along the value chain; meet enough raw materials for export.
The large-scale, high-quality raw material areas have created favorable conditions to promote agricultural exports.
In 2023, the whole province exported about 35,000 tonnes of processed vegetables, an increase of 5,000 tonnes compared to 2022 and more than 111,000 tonnes of lychee to several markets of China, Japan, the United States, Thailand among other, up nearly 76,000 tonnes compared to 2022 figure. All export shipments ensured standards, quality and regulations of the importing countries.
