The tournament was organized by Vietnam Sports Administration and the Department of Culture and Sports in Hai Phong province from July 10 – 18. It attracted nearly 200 athletes of 14 delegations from provinces and cities across the country who competed at 27 different weight groups ranging from 38 kg to 75 kg.

Athlete Hoang Thi Ngan is awarded gold medal at women’s 53kg weight group.

Bac Giang delegation had 15 athletes (8 male and 7 female) participating in 15 weight groups. Half of the members were young athletes participating in the tournament for the first time. Some used to compete in the national competition with medal.

The athletes of the youth team were selected from many districts such as Son Dong, Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen The and Tan Yen.

At the end of the tournament, Bac Giang delegation won 13 medals of all kinds, including 3 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 2 bronze medals and secured third overall ranking.

Gold medalists were Hoang Thi Ngan (women's 53kg weight group), Ly Thien Thien (women's 56kg weight group), Do Duy Hoan (men's 53kg weight group).

It aimed to assess the professional qualifications of young athletes across the nation so as to discover and select excellent faces for the youth and national teams to prepare for upcoming international tournaments.
