(BGO)- The provincial Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA) in northern province of Bac Giang has received the request by Nguyen Van Quy living in Binh An village, Chu Dien commune, Luc Nam district for instruction and support returning home of their relatives who are working under contracts in Republic of Guinea.

Accordingly, Nguyen Van Quy has a brother named Nguyen Van Ngot born on 18 June 1990 in Binh An village, Chu Dien commune, Luc Nam district and some other relatives including Hoang Van Chung born on 12 June 1981, Hoang Van Diep born on 18 July 1980 and Nguyen Duc Khuong born on 28 June 1983 in Chu Dien commune, Luc Nam district.

These citizens immigrated to Republic of Guinea since December 2019 to work under labour contract with Vietnam Construction and Manpower Joint Stock Company (CM Vietnam) located at Lot A60, 3-hectare area, Phuc Dien ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi.

Quy informed there are about 200 Vietnamese labourers currently working in Republic of Guinea. To date, 24 people have been tested, 22 of whom were detected positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Medical facilities in Republic of Guinea are said to be poor even lacking of popular aspirins while the health system depends on aids from foreign countries. Hence, 200 Vietnamese citizens there face high risk of Covid-19 infection.

Currently, there is no flight to Vietnam. CM Vietnam is looking to hire a private jet but no one knows when it will be done. Besides, the company contacted the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola (in charge of Republic of Guinea) for support. However, the family has not received any information from their relatives.

Bac Giang DOFA has collaborated with the Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Embassy in Angola (in charge of Republic of Guinea) and related agencies to grasp information about the case, reasons for detention and solution of the authorities in the host country to seek necessary citizen protection measures.
