Bac Giang: First Covid-19 patient using ECMO discharged from hospital
Patient Ph.H.Th, born in 1961, had respiratory symptoms for about a week, then visited the provincial General Hospital on May 28. His Covid-19 test showed positive result and his disease progressed quickly. He was intubated by the doctors and then transferred to the Intensive Care Center at the Bac Giang Lung Hospital at 6pm the same day.

Here, the doctors identified that the patient became critical with severe pneumonia, multiple organ failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, and hypertension.
Under the active support of medical experts from Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) as well as doctors and nurses on duty at the Intensive Care Center at the Bac Giang Lung Hospital, Th received comprehensive care with the application of the most modern techniques such as ECMO, ventilator, dialysis, and sedation.
After one month of intensive treatment, the patient's health was stable, with the last eight tests turning out negative for SARS-CoV-2, and he was eligible for discharge.

According to the Department of Health, on June 27, Bac Giang province had 94 more patients given the all-clear, including Ph.H.Th. Some treatment units recording high numbers of recoveries included Ngo Gia Tu Bac Giang College, 19; Infectious Disease Treatment Hospital No. 2 (Regiment 831), 14; and Military Hospital 110, 13. This brought the total number of Covid-19 patients who had been cured so far to 3,328.
