Bac Giang produces nearly 140 hectares of lychee for export to Japan
Last year, Bac Giang province had more than 28,000 hectares of lychee, with an output of over 160,000 tonnes. Of which, 14,300 hectares were under VietGAP standard and 80 hectares under GlobalGAP standard. Japan has approved 19 growing area codes with an area of 103 hectares for 107 households.

Luc Ngan alone has more than 16,000 hectares of lychee. The district continues to maintain production on more than 200 hectares already granted the growing area codes for export, including 50 hectares for the Japanese market.
Currently, lychees are flowering, with the fruiting rate for early-ripe lychee expected to reach 85 percent and for the main-crop lychee 80 percent. To complete the plan, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and localities have coordinated to guide farmers how to care for lychee, ensuring the safety process; maintain steam sterilization and packaging facilities to meet the export needs in Luc Ngan district.
They will continue communication campaigns and encourage local people to expand the lychee areas under VietGAP, GlobalGAP and organic standards. A working group will be set up to direct, guide, supervise and manage production, and prevent pests and diseases in areas producing lychee for export to Japan, the US, Australia, and the EU.
