Updated: 15:16, 17/10/2024

BAC GIANG - The Soils and Fertilizers Research Institute (Hanoi) is coordinating with the People's Committee of Yen The district (Bac Giang province) and related units to implement a project to protect, manage and support the development of the "Yen The deer velvet" brand.

At this time, the presiding agency has coordinated to investigate and evaluate the current status, scale of livestock farming, processing and trading activities of deer velvet products in the district.

Dong Son farmers in Yen The district check the quality of deer velvet.

Accordingly, households raising deer for velvet are mainly concentrated in Dong Huu and Dong Son communes... with a scale of about 1,000 deer.

Deer velvet is one of the tonics, chosen by many people to improve health and cure diseases. The product is consumed conveniently and sometimes there is not enough supply for the market.

In 2024, the District Farmers' Association was assigned the task of consulting and supporting the development of product under One Commune One Product programme such as deer velvet soaked in honey in Dong Huu commune.

After completing the investigation and survey, the Soils and Fertilizers Research Institute will continue completing the application for registering the brand "Yen The Deer Velvet"; build a system of documents, management tools and a pilot model for managing this brand as well as support product and trade promotion (expected to complete the tasks before October 2026).

It helps deer velvet products increase their competitiveness in the market and prevent intellectual property rights infringement.
