Bac Giang provincial Chairman Duong Van Thai visits some farming models
He visited the taro centralized production area in Bac Lung commune, Luc Nam district. As talking to the PPC chairman, some local people shared taro has enjoyed good prices in recent years, helping them earn the income of about 12 to 15 million VND (517-646 USD) per each 360 square metre. The consumption is convenient because the product is purchased right at the fields by the traders.

While sharing joys with the peasants, PPC Duong Van said Luc Nam’s fields are suitable for taro growing, hence, local people should continue applying science and technology to gain high productivity and quality. Besides, it is significant to ensure food safety and attach importance to package designs and labeling to improve the product values.
He requested the competent agencies to support local people in promotion and market expansion for taro and other local farm produce.

On the same day, the working delegation visited the high-tech vegetable farming model of Yen Dung clean vegetable cooperative and in-pond raceway aquaculture model of Pham Van Dung’s family in Tien Dung commune, Yen Dung district. These are two outstanding farming models earning high profits in Yen Dung district.
With more than 10 hectares of net house for vegetable farming, Yen Dung clean vegetable cooperative utilizes the high-value plants such as cucumber, melon and some kinds of unreasonable vegetable.

The in-pond raceway aquaculture is to create river-like streams in the ponds instead of culturing in still ponds. Leftover food and fish feces are collected to avoid environmental pollution. Dung’s family produces 20 to 30 tonnes of fish per hectare.
On visiting the farming models, PPC Chairman Duong Van Thai highly appreciated the initiatives of the model owners. He hoped that they would continue completing the farming facilities to enhance economic efficiency and incomes.

The agricultural sector was encouraged to expand the good methods for the farmers to learn experience while supporting them with new breeds and seedlings.
On this occasion, the delegation offered incenses and planted a memorial tree at Than Nong (God of Agriculture) Temple in Luc Nam district.
