Bac Giang provincial People's Committee’s press release on Covid-19 situation

Updated: 15:29, 10/05/2021
(BGO) - According to a press release by the provincial People’s Committee, as of 8pm on May 9, 2021, Bac Giang province reported two Covid-19 outbreaks, with 37 infection cases (F0). 1. The outbreak in Phuong Son commune, Luc Nam district. On May 7, in the commune’s Phuong Lan 3 village, when tracing people who went to take care of their relatives at Hospital K’s Tan Trieu facility and returned to the locality, the provincial Steering Committee of Covid-19 Prevention and Control (hereinafter referred to as the provincial Steering Committee) detected one woman tested positive for Covid-19 and promptly directed the tracing of all cases having close contact with her. There are 180 F1 and 280 F2 cases. Covid-19 testing was conducted on the 180 F1 cases, of whom three turned out positive for SARS-CoV-2 (the children of the patient) and the rest were negative once.

Assessment: The outbreak is less likely to spread.

2. The outbreak at Shin Young Vietnam Co., Ltd., based in the Van Trung Industrial Park in Viet Yen district. On May 8, at Shin Young Vietnam Co., Ltd., based in the Van Trung Industrial Park, Bac Giang province, authorities detected a female worker from Huu Lung district, Lang Son province whose husband was a F1 case as he had visited his relative under treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No. 2. Immediately after taking her sample for Covid-19 testing and the result showed she was positive for the novel coronavirus, the provincial Steering Committee directed the tracing of all cases with close contact with her, quarantining those concerned and taking their samples for testing. The whole company was ordered to temporarily shut down and was disinfected.

Up to now, 32 cases positive for SARS-CoV-2 who are workers working in the same workshop have been confirmed and most of them were quarantined immediately after the F0 case was detected. There are 512 F1 and 845 F2 cases. Regarding the above-mentioned patients' whereabouts, the provincial Steering Committee initially set up medical quarantine areas in nine villages and residential areas, and imposed social distancing in six communes, wards and townships and three residential areas of five districts and city.

Assessment: This is a dangerous outbreak that is difficult to control because it occurs in the industrial park, where there is a large number of workers who have moved to many places. Many F0 cases have travelled by public transport, resulting in a fast virus spreading speed. There will likely be more positive cases in the next few days.

In the coming time, the provincial Steering Committee will widely inform the Covid-19 situation so that local people can know, raise vigilance and voluntarily make medical declarations. The press and media agencies will actively disseminate information about the pandemic on the mass media to raise public awareness and create consensus and unanimity of the entire political system in participating in pandemic prevention and control.

The provincial Steering Committee will direct the health sector to coordinate with the district and city People's Committees to quickly investigate and trace all cases related to F0 cases (up to F3 cases and even F4 cases in some places). It will require concentrated quarantine of all F1 cases and home quarantine of F2 and F3 cases.

It will request strengthening pandemic prevention and control in industrial parks and clusters and at enterprises, as well as reducing the number of foreign workers and the frequency of entry of foreign employees to work in enterprises in the province.

Students of educational and vocational training establishments in the whole province will stop learning from May 10 until new notice. Particularly for 12th graders, the Department of Education and Training will still organize learning at school with a distance being kept, ensuring safety for students and teachers. The People's Committees of districts and city will review and propose social distancing and medical quarantine in high-risk areas. The Department of Transport will review and strictly control the transportation of passengers inside and outside the province as well as the daily transport of workers to work in industrial zones...
