Tien Phong Marathon is an annual tournament that brings together outstanding athletes of Vietnamese athletics at medium and long distances. The tournament is also an opportunity for amateur athletes to compete on the same track with the professional ones.

This year, athletes competed in individual events with distances of 21.1 km and 42.195 km for men and women in the elite and movement categories; 10 km elite men, young men, men, women's movements; 5 km elite women, young women and men, women's movement.

3 coaches and 13 athletes (including two elite and one first grade athletes) of Bac Giang delegation competed at several categories of 5 km elite women, young women; 10 km men's team, young men and distance 21.1 km; 42.195 km men.

In the women's elite 5km event, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh continued to maintain her top performance when she crossed the finish line alone after 16 minutes and 44 seconds (45 seconds faster than last year). This was the 8th consecutive time she has won this tournament.

The above outstanding achievement of star runner Nguyen Thi Oanh helped Bac Giang delegation win second overall ranking at this year tournament.

Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh honored with Vietnamese Women's Award

BAC GIANG -  The Vietnam Women's Union has just held a ceremony in Hanoi to honor 19 outstanding women and seven outstanding organizations in 2022 and 2023 with the Vietnamese Women's Award, including one organization and one individual from Bac Giang province.

(BGO) - "Excellent", "wonderful", "class is forever", "admiring you", "congratulations to the golden girl" are words expressing admiration, love and pride on social networks toward runner Nguyen Thi Oanh, a small girl from Bac Giang who has excellently won two gold medals in the women’s 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase at SEA Games 32 on the afternoon of May 9.

Nguyen Thi Oanh wins miracle double gold in 30 minutes

Despite facing an arduous challenge due to schedule change, Nguyen Thi Oanh did a miracle run to win goal medals in the 1,500 m run and 3,000 m hurdles in just 30 minutes. Oanh is currently the best middle-distance runner in Southeast Asia. She attended the first SEA Games in 2013 and won a silver medal in the 3,000 m hurdles. She has dominated this event for the last three SEA Games editions.
