Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh honored with "Youth Living Beautifully" Award

BAC GIANG - The Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee on the afternoon of December 12 joined hands with TCP Vietnam Company to organize "Youth Living Beautifully" Awarding ceremony in 2023 in Hanoi. Nguyen Thi Oanh (born in 1995), athletics coach and athlete of Bac Giang Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, is one of 20 outstanding individuals nationwide honored with this award.

Bac Giang star runner Oanh was born in My Ha commune (Lang Giang district). She is the "golden girl" of Vietnamese sports with many medals at different tournaments.

Athletics athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh is honored with the "Youth Living Beautifully" Award in 2023.

2023 marks a successful year for the "athletics queen" when she consecutively won 4 Gold Medals at the 32nd SEA Games at the distances of 1,500 m, 3,000 m hurdles, 5,000 m and 10,000 m. .

At the same time, Nguyen Thi Oanh won 1 gold medal in the 5km women's elite and 1 bronze medal in the 5km women's elite at the National Marathon and long distance of 64th Tien Phong Newspaper Marathon. Most recently, she won first prize at the Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon 2023 at the distance of 42.195 km.

The "Youth Living Beautifully" award has been honored since 2017 to commend individuals with particularly outstanding achievements in the fields of study, production and business; volunteer; national defence and security; science and technology; environmental protection; culture and arts; medical; sports; community service; charity and community development among others.

This year, the Organizing Committee reviewed and awarded 20 outstanding youths from 228 people nominated by 55 Youth Union of provinces and cities.

Nguyen Thi Oanh wins miracle double gold in 30 minutes
Despite facing an arduous challenge due to schedule change, Nguyen Thi Oanh did a miracle run to win goal medals in the 1,500 m run and 3,000 m hurdles in just 30 minutes. Oanh is currently the best middle-distance runner in Southeast Asia. She attended the first SEA Games in 2013 and won a silver medal in the 3,000 m hurdles. She has dominated this event for the last three SEA Games editions.
