Bac Giang star runner Nguyen Thi Oanh honored as role models nationwide
The event drew the participation of 700 delegates representing exemplary collectives and individuals in various regions and sectors across the nation, including track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh from Bac Giang province.

The star runner is currently a track and field athlete and coach of the Bac Giang provincial Center for Sports Training and Competition.
Since 2016, she has continuously achieved many successes in domestic and continental tournaments such as one gold and one silver medals at the Asian Beach Games (2016); one bronze at the Asian Sports Festival (2018); 12 gold medals at SEA Games in 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023 and one gold medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships held in February 2023 in Kazakhstan.
Particularly, Oanh excellently won 4 gold medals in athletics in the categories of 1,500 m, 3,000 m steeplechase, 5,000 m and 10,000 m at the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia. This was the first time in history a Vietnamese athlete won four individual gold medals at a SEA Games.
Previously, for her dedication to the country's sports, Nguyen Thi Oanh was honored as one of the four best athletes at the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam together with many Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Olympic Committee, Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Especially, she was awarded the Second and Third Class Labor Medals by the President.
