Bac Giang province strives to become an industrial province with 9 industrial parks (IPs) approved investment, 5 of which have been leased out where the labour force has been rapidly developed. Thus, the position, role and responsibilities of the trade union have become more important.
It’s a great honour for Bac Giang province to be chosen to organize the provincial-level pilot trade union congress for the 2023-2028 tenure in northern mid-land, mountainous and border provinces (scheduled from July 18 to 20). Duong Van Thai stressed, the PPC will continue to pay attention and direct the provincial Confederation of Labour to achieve the set targets and ensure the necessary conditions conforming to the directions of the upper-level agencies.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairperson of Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Nguyen Dinh Khang highly evaluated the results gained by the all-level trade unions in the province so far. He urged the provincial Confederation of Labour to make specific plans to develop trade unionists in the companies with 20 workers or more aiming to establish grassroots trade union organizations.
Besides, they need to pay attention to arranging apparatus of the trade unions in different sectors and reinforcing trade unions in the IPs complying with real situation of the units and localities.
Besides, it is necessary to pay special attention to providing law education to labourers especially those living in the lodging houses and improving workers’ quality of life. He added, the Prime Minister has approved the project “investing to build at least 1 million social houses for low-income people and workers in the IPs in 2021-2030 period”. Thus, he requested the province to pay more attention to development of social housing for workers, providing clinic facilities and attracting investment to build kindergartens in the IPs.
He urged the provincial Party Committee to facilitate activities of the all-level trade unions to meet the demand of the labour force in the context when the province has seen dramatic results in investment attraction and industrial development.
