Bac Giang’s leader sends Christmas greetings to Bac Ninh Diocese and Bac Giang Parish

(BGO)- Lai Thanh Son, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province visited and offered Christmas greetings to Catholic dignitaries at the Bishop’s Palace of the Diocese of Bac Ninh on December 21. 

He was accompanied by representatives of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the provincial Party Committee’s mass mobilization Board, the provincial Department of Home Affairs, and the Committee for Catholic Solidarity of Bac Giang. Bishop Hoang Van Dat of the Bac Ninh Diocese welcomed the delegation.

On behalf of the provincial authorities, Lai Thanh Son informed the Bishop about the outstanding socio-economic achievements of Bac Giang in 2018. In particular, the province has achieved and exceeded 15 out of 17 set targets in 2018, especially the provincial Gross Regional Domestic Products (GRDP) growth rate reaching 16.1 percent, the highest rate ever, bringing the province into the top localities nationwide.

He stressed those attainments were greatly contributed by local Catholic followers. By this occasion, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee asked the Bishop to continue encouraging Catholics in Bac Giang province to uphold solidarity and mutual support in economic activities and poverty reduction, adhere to the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, build the cultural living at the resident areas and actively contribute to the local socio-economic development.

Bishop Hoang Van Dat thanked for the greetings from Bac Giang’s leaders and congratulated the outstanding achievements of Bac Giang province. He also wished them a merry Christmas and New Year with greater accomplishments.

On the same day, Lai Thanh Son and the delegation visited Bac Giang Parish and wished priest Nguyen Minh Tan and the Catholic followers a merry Christmas and happy New year. On behalf of the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee, he presented flowers and gifts to the priest.

Recently, the parishes in the province have been completing preparation for Noel. In the church of Bac Giang Parish, the Catholic followers are decorating the altar, Bethlehem cave and Christmas tree making the Church sparkling and colorful. Members of the church choir enthusiastically practiced Christian songs to perform on the Christmas Eve.
