Binh Dien Long An beat Thailand’s U23 team in int’l volleyball tourney

VTV Binh Dien Long An defeated Thailand’s U23 team in the second match of Group A at the VTV9-Binh Dien International Women's Volleyball Tournament in Kien Giang province on May 13.

19-year-old Nguyen Bich Tuyen from Vinh Long province scored two decisive points to help Long An beat Thailand 3-2.

Binh Dien Long An had a good start to beat the Thai team 25-15 in the first set. However, Thailand fought back strongly to win 25-23, 25-20 in the next two sets.

VTV Binh Dien Long An celebrate beating U23 Thailand in the VTV9-Binh Dien International Women's Volleyball Tournament on May 13.

With good performances by Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Duong Thi Hen and Dang Kim Thanh, Binh Dien Long An beat Thailand 25-19 in the fourth set.

In the decisive set, Tuyen helped her team win 16-14.

In another match of Group A, Vietinbank defeated Nanjing University of China 3-0.

After two games, Binh Dien Long An top the group with five points, followed by Vietinbank with four points, Thailand with two points and then Nanjing with no points.

The event attracted the participation of eight teams including four teams from the US, China and Thailand, competing in a round-robin format in the qualifying round.

The winner will receive a prize of 15,000 USD.

Int’l volleyball tournament kicks off in Bac Ninh province
The International Women’s Volleyball Tournament – LienVietPostBank Cup 2019 is taking place at the multifunctional gymnasium in the northern province of Bac Ninh from February 22 to March 1, with the participation of four Vietnamese teams and four international invitees.

The Vietnamese national team beat the Democratic People's Republic of Korea 3-1 in the final match on August 11 to seal the championship title of the VTV International Women's Volleyball Cup 2018.
