Chau Van singing festival launched in Bac Giang province

(BGO)- On 17 February, at the Van singing house in Suoi Mo eco-tourism site, Nghia Phuong commune, Luc Nam district in the northern province of Bac Giang, the provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the People’s Committee of Luc Nam district jointly held the 3rd Chau Van (Vietnamese ritual) singing festival 2019. 

The event was attended by Tu Minh Hai, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee and representatives of some related provincial agencies.

The festival contributes to preserving and improving the cultural values of Mother Goddess worshipping of the Vietnamese people while honoring the values of Chau Van singing not only in art and culture but also in the spirit of solidarity of the nation. This festival lured attendance of more than 200 artists, cung van (singers), thanh dong (medium) and performers from 15 groups and clubs of artists.

At this event, the performers, artists and mediums performed such performances as hat van (van singing) using both old and modern words to honor the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, solidarity and patriotism of Vietnamese people while Chau Van performances (36 mediumship) traditionally sang the praise of saints, genies, divinities and heroes who contributed to the nation.

After the opening ceremony, the performers of Lang Giang and Luc Ngan districts performed Van singing and performances making a deep impression on the audiences with beautiful costumes and smooth lyrics.

The 3rd Chau van singing festival of Bac Giang province is scheduled from 17 to 18 February 2019 included in the provincial Culture and Tourism Week 2019.

On the same day, Luc Nam district held the inauguration ceremony of Ha temple and Suoi Mo Van singing house. These two buildings have been invested with a total fund of some 20 billion VND (862,000 USD) from the state budget of the district and donation resources to serve the demands for the spiritual activity of the people.
