China donates medical supplies to help Vietnam in Covid-19 fight

A handover ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health in Hanoi on September 29 for medical supplies donated by the Chinese government to the government of Vietnam.

Authorised by the Prime Minister, Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo, representing the Chinese government, signed the minutes of the handover of anti-Covid-19 aid categories, including 300,000 surgical masks and 20,000 face masks.

Long extended his sincere thanks to the Chinese government for the donations, while congratulating the government and people of China on their achievements in the prevention and control of the pandemic.

Vietnam and China have cooperated closely in the area of healthcare, thus bringing many benefits to the work of caring for people’s health, he said, expressing his hope that medical cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened in the near future.

For his part, Ambassador Xiong Bo noted that, in recent times, Vietnam and China have shared information and experience while supporting each other in the fight against the disease.

China will continue to share its experience and ensure medical supplies for global anti-epidemic efforts, he said, emphasising that China-produced COVID-19 vaccines will become a global product with priority to be provided to developing countries and ASEAN member states.

At the ceremony, the two sides discussed some issues regarding traditional medicine, a strength in bilateral cooperation.
