Color of life on teacher’s hands

(BGO) - Many people in educational sector in Hiep Hoa district, Bac Giang province know about teacher Luong Van Huu in Dong Lo No.1 Primary School who has special passion for drawing. Recently, he has awarded many prizes for his paintings and displayed them at regional and national exhibitions.

Burning passion

Teacher Luong Van Luu was born in 1982 in Toan Thang village, Lao Ho commune, Yen Dung district. Since early childhood, many people recognized lively features on Luu’s portrait of Uncle Ho or cartoon characters so encouraged him to follow art to develop the talent.

After graduating from Viet Bac Culture and Art Colleague (Thai Nguyen province), Luu moved to teach and draw artistic paintings at Tay Nguyen province in 2004 then teached at Thanh Van Primary School (Hiep Hoa district) in 2008.

Teacher Luu shared: “Sometimes in hard period, I thought of giving up the easel and brush. But the passion for drawing seems to be internal flame inside me that inspire me to pick it up. For recent ten years, my relatives, colleagues and students have encouraged me so I gain more aspiration for drawing”.

Apart from teaching time at school, teacher Luu daily roams on roads to countryside to search for drawing inspiration. He uses various materials on his paintings such as water color, oil paint, acrylic color, coal, lead, chalk…but the teacher is best at oil paint and acrylic color.

Initially, he drew portraits of people and static thing, placard, mural painting on new style rural areas. Then he loves to create artistic painting. He earned big amount from selling first work of “Nang trong vuon chuoi” or “Sunshine on banaba orchard” that he drew in 2003.

Later on, the teacher has created hundreds of artistic paintings. Each bears specific impression to express space, time, characters’mood and emotion.

Inspiring young generation

Teacher Luu has won several prizes such as Second and Consolidation prizes at Traffic Safety Drawing Contest launched by the Department of Transport, first prize at district level drawing contests for teacher as well as recognized as excellent teacher by Chairman of Hiep Hoa district People’s Committee.

2021 is a successful year of Luu when his works “Luoi vuong” and “Nhip chay Tay Nguyen” were selected by Vietnam Fine Arts Association to display at fine art exhibition in the third region (Tay Bac - Viet Bac) in Cao Bang province and fine art exhibition in the first region (South of Central and Tay Nguyen) respectively.

To share the passion for drawing, teacher Luu has recently taken time to foster many students, many of whom passed the entrance exam to artistic colleagues. He is deeply moved when some students now working at fashion, sculpture, architecture and art fields still keep contact to him who inspired them years ago.

The Administrative Board at the schools he used to work like Thanh Van Primary, Dong Lo No.1 Primary always recognize his efforts, positive contribution and activeness to organize art exchange and extracurricular activities so as to timely detect any talented students and encourage them to show the emotion and dream via painting.

Currently, teacher Luu has focused on drawing to soon realize the dream of an individual exhibition about Ho Chi Minh President and General Vo NGuyen Giap in Bac Giang as well as countryside painting exhibition right at his home field.
