Culture-tourism village offers cheerful spring celebrations to visitors

The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi is hosting a programme entitled ‘Scent of spring in mountainous region’ from January 1 to 31, introducing visitors to the traditional spring festivals and customs of Vietnamese ethnic groups.

The programme gathers the participation of 100 ethnic people from 13 groups from across the country, including Nung, Tay, H’mong, Ta Oi, Bahnar, Xo Dang, and Khmer.

Signature dishes of ethnic people are being served at the village.

Visitors to the village can enjoy the re-enactment of Han Khuong traditional ritual of the Thai ethnic community in Son La Province, explore the craft of brocade weaving, and join joyful Xoe folk dances and bamboo pole dances.

They are also entertained with performances of gongs, Then singing, and various folklore art forms.

In addition, visitors can try their hands at making traditional cakes and take part in exciting folk games such as ‘con’ (fabric cloth ball) throwing, stilt-walking, and tug of war.

Signature dishes of ethnic people are being served at the village, including five-coloured sticky rice, chicken with bamboo shoots, and grilled fish, among others.

Creative tourism to be developed based on culture
The recent National Cultural Conference has identified nine key groups of solutions to develop and promote the cultural values and strengths of the Vietnamese people for the near future, especially regarding the issue of “building a mechanism to reasonably and harmoniously deal with the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage within socio-economic development”.
Nguyen Son Long (Viet Yen district) wins first prize at National “Reading Culture Ambassador” Contest
(BGO) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the award ceremony of the 2021 “Reading Culture Ambassador” Contest. Nguyen Son Long (born in 2010), a student of class 6A3, Than Nhan Trung junior high school, Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province won first prize. 
Culture – an endogenous strength
The National Cultural Conference, which will take place on November 24, is a very important event aimed at implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on comprehensive human development and building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with a strong sense of national identity that will become an endogenous strength and driving force for the national development and defence.
