Assoc. Prof. Adnan Jusoh, a lecturer at the Pendidikan Sultan Idris University’s Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities, and History said the time period affirmation was based on research he started in 2002 using typological analysis on the drums’ patterns.

An ancient bronze drum recently found in Ta Thang village, Gia Phu commune, Bao Thang district, the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.

He said there are various decorative patterns on the tympanum that are believed to be connected with the community’s socio-cultural system and activities at the time.

The earliest drum was found in Sungai Tembeling, Pahang state, in 1926. Four others were discovered in Selangor state and three more in Terengganu state.

They originated from Vietnam, with the name referring to a village called Dong Son and have become a sacred relic of Vietnamese culture.

San Diu ethnic group’s folk singing named national intangible cultural heritage

A ceremony was held in Tam Dao district, the northern province of Vinh Phuc on March 20 to receive a certificate recognising Soong Co folk singing by San Diu ethnic group in Lap Thach, Tam Dao and Binh Xuyen districts and Phuc Yen city as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Vinh Nghiem pagoda festival – enhancing cultural heritage

(BGO) – Annually on the lunar February, Vinh Nghiem pagoda in Tri Yen commune (Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province) vibrantly welcomes the festive season. Whale worship festival in Da Nang recognised as intangible heritage

A ceremony was held in Thanh Khe district of the central city of Da Nang, on February 20 to receive the certificate recognizing the district’s Cau Ngu (whale worship) festival on the national list of intangible cultural heritage.
