Updated: 08:54, 07/10/2018

Advantages in consumption of the products

We visited Xuan Truong Chu rice noodle Cooperative at Thu Duong hamlet, Nam Duong commune, Luc Ngan district when the Cooperative were busy packaging and shipping the products to Big C supermarket. We were warmly welcomed by Pham Xuan Truong, director of Xuan Truong Chu rice noodle Cooperative.

He said, “Each month, the Cooperative provides Big C supermarket with 30 tonnes of noodle under the signed contract including terms and provisions on quality, packaging, time of production, shipment and price of the products. Besides, the Cooperative signed other contracts to provide about 40 tonnes of Chu rice noodle to VinGroup and tens of convenience stores in Hanoi with higher prices than normal market by about 30 percent”.

To fulfill these orders, the Cooperative collaborates with 30 households producing rice noodle at Nam Duong commune. The Cooperative provided bar codes for each household to ensure traceability then monitor and identify responsibility for any responses and complaints of consumers. Thanks to the above solutions, observance of the production rules and quality of the products have been improved.

Similarly, the Cooperative producing, trading and consuming Chu rice noodle of Hien Phuoc (Hien Phuoc Cooperative) cooperates with 40 households at Thu Duong hamlet to produce and consume from 20 to 30 tonnes of noodle per month. They have rather stable consumption markets under the signed contracts with many school canteens, convenience stores and big vendors in Bac Giang and other provinces.

Luc Ngan is home to 20 cooperatives with about 1,000 households producing rice noodle, 14 of which are in Nam Duong commune. To date, a number of cooperatives have built the linkage chains from production to consumption connecting the local people and cooperatives to enterprises. Thus, the brand of Chu noodle has become popular and accepted by numerous consumers.

Developing linkage chains

According to DOIT, in order to help some cooperatives producing Chu rice noodle to establish and develop trade brands, this department has implemented the project to support Hien Phuoc, Xuan Truong and Tung Chi rice noodle cooperatives in building and developing the linkage chain of product consumption since 2017.

Particularly, DOIT funded the cooperatives in setting up the websites to promote their products and boost e-commerce application in trading, purchasing modern machines and facilities for production and improving packaging designs. Besides, they proactively advertised the products, connected and provided opportunities for leaders of the cooperative to visit and learn experience at the well-known trade villages and firms producing noodle in Vietnam.

They also organized trade fairs and invited enterprises to cooperate in investment and trading creating stable markets for the products. The total support fund was about 300 million VND (12,900 USD) from the provincial budget.

In the context of expanding markets for noodle, many cooperatives have invested to increase the productivity and improve quality of the product. Particularly, Tung Chi Cooperative invested some 500 million VND (21,400 USD) to build a noodle drying oven with heat dissipation method. This method helps to handle difficulties in drying noodle reducing dependence on weather.

Thanks to this method, the Cooperative can maintain the production in long-lasting rainy days to meet the orders with the output of more than 1,000 tonnes per year, up 20 percent compared to the previous years.

Based on their initial success, Xuan Truong and Hien Phuoc cooperatives have made plans to increase their scales of investment and build standard noodle drying ovens and warehouse systems to improve productivity and expand consumption markets in coming years.

In order to maintain and expand these effective models, DOIT will continue supporting local people, cooperatives and enterprises to strengthen linkages, create stable markets and develop trade brand for this typical product of the province.

Bac Giang city increases competitiveness of craft villages
(BGO)- Bac Giang city now has some traditional craft villages specializing in producing food products such as Ke dry pancake and Da Mai vermicelli, which have been existed for hundreds of years. Thanks to these crafts, many households have stable incomes. However, the number of households engaging in the crafts is on the downward trend.
