Expanding production, businesses are "thirsty" for labor

Updated: 18:57, 02/07/2024

BAC GIANG - At this time, due to scale expansion, many companies in Bac Giang province are speeding up recruitment to complete production plans. The labor supply becomes even more scarce because many businesses have high recruitment needs at the same time. Therefore, functional agencies and related units have actively coordinated to support and ensure stable human resources for enterprises.

According to the Provincial Employment Service Center (ESC) under the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA), in the third quarter of this year, 31 enterprises in the province registered to recruit more than 37,200 workers, an increase of 58% over the same period in 2023. Of this number, unskilled workers account for 70%, mainly in the fields of electricity, electronics, garments, and solar panel.

Enterprises conduct online interviews with workers looking for jobs at online job sessions organized by the Provincial Employment Service Center.

Preparing human resources for scaling up the production, from now onward the year end, Foxconn Technology Group needs to recruit 18,000 unskilled workers and about 2,000 high quality labor.

To increase recruitment efficiency, the Foxconn Technology Group's recruitment center coordinates with the ESC in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces and several provinces and cities in the Northern mountainous region to organize both direct and online job transaction sessions.

In addition, the recruitment center posts information on social networks such as Facebook, Zalo to lure labors as well as offers "hot" bonus policy for employees who introduce their relatives and friends to apply for jobs.

Crystal Martin Vietnam Company Limited in Quang Chau Industrial Park is in need of recruiting 2,200 garment workers with general education levels to serve the new production line. The company offers attractive policies such as basic salary of more than 5.4 million VND per person per month right after singing the contract, total income in the first 3 months not lower than 10 million VND per person per month among others.

Currently, the whole province has about 7,600 operating businesses that employ more than 306,000 laborers, including about 60,000 from outside the province.

It is forecasted that in the fourth quarter of this year, recruitment demand will continue to increase up to 50,000 people. Along with unskilled workers, local businesses need to recruit about 6,000 labors with university and college degrees each year, especially in the field of semiconductor components during 2025 – 2030.

Nguyen Van Hue, Director of the ESC, said the businesses are "thirsty" for unskilled human resources because many large-scale companies are scaling up. Meanwhile, at the same time, many enterprises in the neighboring province and areas (Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son) also need to employ more labors.

In the context of fierce labor competition and the low supply, since the beginning of the year, the Provincial People's Committee had issued a promotion plan to attract labor in 4 provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang, Son La, Hoa Binh. So far, the ESC has regularly connected and organized online job transaction sessions with these provinces.

In particular, Luxshare-ICT Vietnam Co., Ltd., with the largest recruitment need in the province, has signed a recruitment cooperation agreement with the ESC of 11 provinces and cities in the Northern mountainous region.

It is forecasted that in the fourth quarter of this year, recruitment demand will continue to increase up to 50,000 people. Along with unskilled workers, local businesses need to recruit about 6,000 labors with university and college degrees each year, especially in the field of semiconductor components during 2025 – 2030.

In the coming time, to balance supply and demand, the DOLISA required businesses to strictly implement regulations on first notification of labor use scale and labor fluctuations while the ESC must proactively captures labor market information inside and outside the province to analyze the competitive trends, hence advising the DOLISA to plan, adjust policies and support businesses in recruitment.

Tran Van Ha, Deputy Director of the DOLISA, said that stabilizing the human resource supply for businesses requires synchronous and close coordination from many sides. The Department requested districts, township and city to direct and promote grassroots propaganda; the Management Board of the Provincial Industrial Parks to well manage enterprises operating in employment services and provide official information, create trust among workers looking for jobs in Bac Giang.

The business should clearly express the desire to retain long-term employees with a basic salary and good remuneration by singing contracts with an indefinite term with new employees.

Regarding high-quality labor, the businesses are encouraged to proactively cooperate in training and "place orders" early with universities and colleges to introduce students with related majors to internship units and work after graduation.
