Experiencing Traditional Tet at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology
The “Experiencing Traditional Tet” programme at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology this weekend attracted a large number of children and their parents to participate.
The programme is an opportunity for the public to explore the traditional Tet holiday of the Muong people. The activity has the participation of folk artisans from Hoa Binh, Hanoi and students in Hanoi.

Participating in the programme, visitors have the opportunity to learn about the beauty of the traditional Tet holiday, by erecting a bamboo pole, known as a Neu tree, and wrapping Chung cakes of the Muong people, with calligraphy and Dong Ho painting printing.
Children can participate in folk games associated with Tet of ethnic groups, such as tug of war, grass ball, beating the ball, playing badminton, hitting the board, spinning top, throwing 'pao', throwing 'con', and pushing sticks.
In addition, creative activities such as painting to explore Hoa Binh's cultural heritage, painting the 12 zodiac animals or making funny clay figurines will also bring joy and excitement to children.
This year, the program also introduces technology application activities, bringing new experiences to visitors, especially young people. The activities aim to learn about the meaning of snakes in the culture of some ethnic groups through the Museum’s artefacts.
This is an activity of the programme of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology to celebrate the New Year of the Snake, which will take place on February 1 and 2 (the 4th and 5th days of the first lunar month).
