First children's book festival in Ho Chi Minh City opens

The first children’s book festival in Ho Chi Minh City, with the theme “Opening the book - Bright future”, kicked off on September 27.

Co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications and agencies, departments, agencies, as well as publishing houses and book companies; the event is expected to find and develop good ideas about good reading models to share with localities in the city.

At the book fair, children will practice reading habits with many good books. In addition, children will also participate in intellectual training games, creative activities through attractive playgrounds such as folding origami paper, experimenting with Lego assembling games, modeling Playdoh clay, pottery crafting and painting.

Families, parents and children can share and discuss a good books in an interactive space named "read with children", or guide and orient their children on protecting the environment as well as participating in a book exchange programme.

In addition, readers will receive a discount of 20-50% for children's books. In particular, the "Book exchange programme" will encourage children to share valuable knowledge with everyone and add new books and increase their knowledge.

The book fair is scheduled to create a reading culture space and take part in meaningful activities for children, contributing to building a learning society by developing the reading movement and encouraging reading habits of the younger generation from families, schools and society.

Yen The (Bac Giang) presents school books to impoverished students
