Germany will provide Vietnam with even more vaccine doses, bringing the total number of vaccines delivered to more than 10 million doses, the release said.
Guido Hildner, German Ambassador to Vietnam, said that the new delivery was a reaffirmation of Germany’s solidarity with Vietnam in combating and overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic.
Current developments show that the virus is far from being defeated, he noted, adding that this can be done only if the pandemic is brought under control everywhere. Therefore, Germany and the European Union support the Covax vaccination campaign for fair and transparent access to Covid-19 vaccines worldwide.
In September, Germany provided 3.45 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Vietnam. Last month, it gifted medical equipment worth $1 million.
The country is the biggest vaccine donor among EU member nations to Vietnam.
As of Tuesday, 58 million people in Vietnam, or 60 percent of the population, have been fully vaccinated.
