HCM City music festival celebrates UN Day of Vesak 2019

The Culture Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) -Ho Chi Minh City chapter held a grand music festival on the night of May 16 to celebrate the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019 and Buddha’s 2563rd birth anniversary.
Speaking at the event, member of the VBS’s Executive Committee and head of the department Most Venerable Thich Tri Chon said the UN Day of Vesak 2019 held in Vietnam has been a great success, spreading the significance of Buddhism worldwide.

The festival themed “Sacred Lotus” recalls the birth of Buddha like a lotus in the swamp and reminds each to strive to be a peaceful mind, contributing to building a world of peace and happiness, he said.
Music performances at the event depicted the life of Buddha, praised his life and noble thoughts, attracting thousands of Buddhist followers in the city.
