Updated: 18:43, 29/10/2019
(BGO) – The social welfare activities for the poor in Hiep Hoa district (Bac Giang province) have recently attracted positive response from the people of all strata. The Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) at all levels has boosted up the communication and mobilized all sources to diversify the support for the needy.

Repair and build 161 houses

Bac Ly commune covers a wide area with a dense population including many poor and impoverished households. To help them overcome the difficulties, the officers of the FFC at all levels and member organizations regularly stuck to the situation, surveyed each case to know the practical need in order to suitably call for the support.

14 households in the commune were supported over 450 million VND (over 19,300 USD) to repair and build new houses. Besides, 8 other households were provided with the mother cow. On the lunar New Year or any sudden bad luck occasion, the poor households were supported by the local authority. Currently, the commune has 3.5 percent of poor families, much lower than the average rate of the district.

Together with many local political organizations, many kind-hearted people gathered and founded One Heart Club since 2015. The Club has provided more than 38,400 free meals to patients at the district Medical Center. In the middle of this October, the Club joined hand with the provincial Association for the Protection of the Children’s Right and editor board of website Hiephoa.net to hold a gifting programme with total worth of over 20 million VND (862 USD) to poor children and households in Duong Huu and Long Son communes (Son Dong district).

According to the district FFC, Hiep Hoa district supported nearly 5 billion VND (over 215,500 USD) to repair and build 161 houses to the poor families in 2018 and 2019 while providing regular and emergent support to hundred of impoverished households in case of sickness and accident.

Diversifying method of facilitation

The district FFC and Fund Raising Board have launched the “Fund raising for the poor” movement effectively to the party, authority and local residents.

Chairman of the district FFC Pham Van Nghi said the recent social welfare activities for the poor have received positive responses from the sector, department, agencies, enterprise, philanthropist and community.

More than 1 billion VND (over 43,100 USD) was donated to the poor via the Fund Raising Board in the district and commune levels in the Action Month for the Poor in 2018, in which many localities exceeded the assigned target such as Duc Thang, Bac Ly, Doan Bai and Danh Thang.

The support method was flexible and depended on the individual condition of the organization, agency and enterprise. Several humanitarian events started from the affection, solidarity which were hard to value.

Recently, doctors in the Young Doctor Club spent a weekend day to provide free health examination and consultation to nearly 100 people with disabilities in the district while members of the district Businesswomen Club paid due attention to creating jobs to single women and difficult families.

Promoting the gained result, the FFC’s Standing Board at all levels in the district continued to call for various donation from resident, organization, agencies and enterprises in the Action Month for the Poor this year.

Apart from receiving the donation, the Fund Raising Board also welcomed material support such as cement, brick, sand, stone, paint... to build and repair the house, kept consulting and caring for the health as well as provided vocational training and gifting to the poor.

The leader of the district FFC said the district strives to build and repair 35 houses to the needy cases in 2020 so it is really necessary for the community’s support. The local authority instructed to divide into each level to avoid overlapping situation, transparently manage the finance to create the belief to the organizations, agencies, enterprises and people who donate to the social welfare fund.
