Hung Yen longan becomes dessert on Vietnam Airlines flights
Deputy Prime |
According to the cooperation agreement signed between Vietnam Airlines and the Hung Yen provincial authorities at a trade promotion conference for longan and other farm produce of Hung Yen province held on August 12, longan will become a dessert on the business-class cabin.
The specialty will be served on more than 70 routes of the national flag carrier from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to other destinations in Vietnam, Asia, Australia and Europe.
The fruit served aboard must meet the VietGap standards and undergo many stages of food safety inspection. Vietnam Airlines is expected to include Hung Yen longan from the main crop as a dessert to business-class passengers in the month, from August 15 to September 15.
Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, Le Hong Ha, said that the airline wishes to prioritize using Vietnamese products.
"Besides improving the quality of the service, offering longan on flights will help to promote Vietnamese agricultural products to the world, contributing to consuming the fruit for local farmers. This is also a way for us to link aviation products with the traditional food of the nation," Ha noted.
