Join hands with Bac Giang province to overcome typhoon Yagi’s aftermath

BAC GIANG - On September 16, a delegation from the Ministry of Health led by Professor. Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, visited and supported flood victims in Bac Giang province.

The storm No. 3 injured 26 people in Bac Giang, currently, 6 patients are being treated at the Provincial General Hospital with stable health condition.

In addition, the whole sector has 123 families of cadres, civil servants and workers affected. The heavy rain flooded 8 medical stations, 7 of which have returned to normal medical examination and treatment activities after the water receded. Only Van Ha Commune Medical Station in Viet Yen township is still flooded.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan shared the damage caused by storm No. 3 to Bac Giang province in general and the provincial health sector in particular.

At the same time, he highly appreciated the efforts of the health sector in preventing, responding and ensuring proper procedures for disease prevention and control, environmental sanitation and food safety after the storm and flood.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Health supported many equipment, supplies and medicines for the Bac Giang health sector with a total value of about 1.4 billion VND. The Suc Khoe Doi Song (Health and Life) Newspaper presented gifts and money worth 1 billion VND to support medical facilities to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 together with gifts to local medical staff and people affected by floods.

Additionally, Vietnam Health Trade Union presented gifts worth 200 million VND in cash and kind to officials and employees of the provincial health sector while Long Chau Pharmacy donated one ton of medicine to people in storm hit localities.

By 4:00 p.m. on September 16, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee received more than 44.5 billion VND (over 1.9 million USD) from agencies, units, businesses, charitable individuals inside and outside the province as well as overseas Vietnamese to support the people of Bac Giang province to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3.

On September 16, the Bac Giang Provincial Relief Fund received 30 billion VND from the Central Relief Mobilization Committee allocated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee in the first phase. Bac Giang is one of 20 provinces receiving this allocation in this phase.

From the Provincial Relief Fund, on September 16, the Bac Giang Provincial Relief Mobilization Committee allocated the first phase of support (12.5 billion VND) to 8 districts: Son Dong (2 billion VND), Luc Ngan (2 billion VND), Luc Nam (2 billion VND), Yen The (1.5 billion VND), Yen Dung (1.5 billion VND), Hiep Hoa (1.5 billion VND), Tan Yen (1 billion VND), Lang Giang (1 billion VND) to overcome the consequences, restore production, repair houses and serve reconstruction after storms and floods.

Bac Giang City and Viet Yen Township can be allocated in the next phase.
