Updated: 21:04, 31/10/2020
(BGO) – The humanitarian carriages of relief daily move toward the Central region from every corner of the country including those driven by the officers and soldiers in the Army Corps No.2 in Bac Giang province. For them, it is also the meaningful and humane journey to the root that is from the heart of the soldiers.

Ready to support

2 am on October 26, the working delegation of the Army Corps No.2 with 16 officers and soldiers departed from their station toward the Central provinces to deliver the aid service to the flood victims. They carried tonnes of commodities, necessities and medicines and went to Ba Long base in Ba Long commune, Dakrong district (Quang Tri province) where the Army Corps No.2 was established on May 17, 1074.

After driving in dark condition under heavy rain to pass through slope and dangerous hills for nearly 20 hours, finally they came to the office of the People’s Committee in Ba Long commune.

Lieutenant-colonel Chu Quoc Van, Assistant of Propaganda and Training Division, the Army Corp’s Political Department said though all people are tired of the long journey, no one want to take a rest. In early next day, each person quickly implemented the in charge tasks such as cleaning up the flood leftover, helping local residents clean up the environment, houses and utensils while the military doctors organize health checkup and provided free medicines to them. By the great joint efforts of officers and soldiers at the Brigade and teachers, on October 26 morning, the teachers and students at An Ninh Primary School came back to the teaching and studying activities.

Thoroughly caring for the gift

When the storm landed at the Central provinces, the officers and soldiers in the Army Corps No.2 quickly implemented the aided tasks to support the victims because every one wishes to share something with them to party ease their difficulties and loss.

To well organize the faraway charity journey, the Army Corps No.2 made suitable and careful plan. Under the complicated weather condition, they reminded each other to thoroughly prepare the conditions so as to ensure the safety for the local residents and for the members then assist them to recover the consequences.

October is a special month for Vietnamese women and this year October became more special for the female members in the Army Corps because they decided to reserve no effort for the charity work.

Knowing that the flood victims are living without many necessities, especially blankets, curtains, clothes, clean water, food..., via a specific channel of the Women’s Union at the Army Corp, they donated money to buy more essential tools like personal hygiene things, baby clothes, medicines, sanitary pad...for the female resident apart from clothes, instant noodles and food. Every thing was carefully packed to send to the Women’s Union in Ba Long commune to recover the initial difficulties.

In spite of the hard journey, the offices and soldiers always obeyed the principle with charitable spirit to gain practical results. In several day, the delegates helped clean up 15,000 square meters, provide free health examination and medicine to hundreds of people, present nearly 2,000 sets of clothes, 51 boxes of instant noodle and 500 million VND (21,500 USD) in cash.

The natural disaster will be over. The humanity and soldiers’ emotion of the officers and soldiers in the Army Corp No.2 amid the storm and flood are surely shining as the example of the soldiers of Uncle Ho and the people.
