King and Queen of Belgium tour Cat Ba Island, Lan Ha Bay
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium engaged in a series of activities in the northern port city of Hai Phong on Wednesday, as part of their ongoing state visit to Vietnam.
The monarchs took a cable car ride to tour Cat Ba Island from above and later enjoyed a boat trip of Lan Ha Bay on Wednesday afternoon.

The bay trip lasted over an hour and was organized as a private tour for the king, queen, and their close associates.
Lan Ha Bay is located to the east of Cat Ba Island, adjacent to the world-famous Ha Long Bay.
Covering more than 7,000 hectares, Lan Ha Bay features approximately 400 islets, all of which are lush with trees and vegetation.
Hosting the royal guests, Hai Phong chairman Nguyen Van Tung highlighted the flourishing friendship and cooperation between the city and the Belgian Embassy, as well as Belgian organizations and enterprises.
He noted that the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone Joint Stock Company is the first and largest collaborative project between a consortium of Belgian companies and Hai Phong.
Tung said the Vietnamese government has approved the establishment of the city’s southern coastal economic zone, covering approximately 20,000 hectares and following a green growth model. It will include a free trade zone with special incentives and policies, along with other key features.
He expressed his hope that the King and Queen will continue to support the development of ties between Hai Phong, Vietnam, and Belgium.
The King pledged to continue efforts to further strengthen cooperation with Hai Phong following his visit, and expressed his wish for the city’s continued success.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde arrived in Hanoi on Monday, beginning their state visit to Vietnam, which will last until April 4, at the invitation of President Luong Cuong and his wife.
