Lang Giang builds green urban areas and ecological agriculture

BAC GIANG - Grasping the trend of developing green urban and ecological agriculture, Lang Giang district (Bac Giang province) has focused on implementation. This is a new task so every step is carefully done correctly following the planning.

Phuong said: "Lang Giang has diverse, rich and favorable natural conditions together with advantage geographical location, climate and land. Local transport infrastructure connecting internal and external regions has been invested heavily in recent years. There are valuable historical relics and cultural heritage that are potential to develop ecological agriculture associated with tourism”.

So far, many local communes have been recognized as advanced new rural areas, especially 67 villages achieving exemplary new style village standards, the highest in the province. The district aims to become an advanced new style rural district by 2024, striving to complete it one year before the milestone set out at 22nd District Party Congress Resolution.

Every year, the total production value of the district's agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector reaches more than 2,400 billion VND (101,1 million USD). Initially, the district established and expanded the concentrated rice production areas together with linkage between production and consumption in the communes of Dao My, Nghia Hung, My Thai, Tan Hung, An Ha, Huong Lac , Kep town...

Also, a clean vegetable and processing vegetable production areas are formed in the communes of Xuan Huong, Quang Thinh, Xuong Lam... This is a solid premise to build ecological agriculture.

Head of the District Division of Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Duc Hung said it is a new task to build ecological rural areas in the area without a specific model and criteria. Therefore, the district focuses on developing organic and high-tech agriculture.

Currently, the district has 47 models receiving support to develop hi-tech agricultural production. Up to now, all models have affirmed outstanding production efficiency which have been widely replicated by local farmers.

In the coming time, the district will continue restructuring agriculture toward higher added value and sustainable development in association with building new style rural areas; focusing on investment in infrastructure, developing products with advantages, competitiveness and market.

Regarding green urban development, Bac Giang province's planning for the 2021-2030 period oriented Lang Giang district to be the northern key economic region of the province, with Voi as the central urban area of the region, playing an important role in promoting socio-economic development of the region and the entire province.

By 2030, the district strives to accelerate the development of technical and social infrastructure systems, attract investment in upgrading urban areas in Voi and Kep towns to become fourth class urban areas and establish new towns including Thai Dao, Tan Dinh, Tan Hung (fifth class urban areas) as well as build Lang Giang into a green, ecological urban area.

To achieve the common goal, the Party and authority in the districts, towns and communes have built and issued both phased and detailed plans for each year, clearly defining the content and roadmap of implementation timeline, investment focus and resource allocation.

The total budget for urban development in the period 2021 - 2025 hit nearly 9,250 billion VND, including 9.9 billion VND from the provincial budget, nearly 5,215 billion VND from the district budget and others.

Thanks to the investment, up to now Voi town has achieved 82.43 points, Kep town has achieved 66.92 points compared to the fourth class urban criteria while Tan Dinh commune has gained highest points of 72.32 to build fifth class urban area.

The Vice Chairman of the district People's Committee Than Hai Nam said that the district focuses on developing urban area, attracting social resources to create motivation for developing transport and industrial infrastructure.

The district is determined to build Lang Giang into a green, ecological and modern urban area toward sustainable development, improvement of urban service quality. The people will be considered the center while the major target is to satisfy the need and enhance the quality of local life.
