Luc Ngan improves citrus quality in associated with tourism development

The family of Vu Thi Phuong in Tan Truong village, Thanh Hai commune has taken care of the sweet and green skin pomelo garden to have good quality fruits for customers.

With about 2 hectares, she planned and intensively grew several varieties of pomelo. Now, the harvest time comes with estimated productivity of 20 tonnes and expected revenue of over one billion VND.
Similarly, Nguyen Van Huu in Xe Cu village, Thanh Hai commune has grown pomelo in line with organic trend so his product always enjoys higher price than that of traditional cultivation method.
The pomelo garden brings him income of 2 to 3 billion VND per year. Thanks to good caring procedure, the 10-hectare fruit garden gives over 100 tonnes. Also, this is one of the places to welcome visitors this year.
Besides, many agriculture cooperatives in the district have actively urged the members and linked households to produce clean and safe citrus fruits then supply to the market.
Nguyen Van Hien, Diretor of Tan Moc Agriculture Service Cooperative in Tan Moc commune said the cooperative has 9 members who grow more than 20 hectares of orange and pomelo. In 2021, the cooperative developed 5 hectares in line with organic method that helped bring bigger and better fruits as well as 20 percent increased productivity. This year, all members follow organic method for 100 percent of the citrus garden.
In 2022 season, Luc Ngan plans to harvest 5,100 hectares of citrus trees with estimated output of 52,000 tonnes. To improve the productivity and quality, the district People’s Committee has directed the competent agencies to instruct farmers the organic cultivation method as well as VietGAP procedure since early season.
So far, 2,200 hectares of orange and pomelo have been grown under VietGAP procedure, up 300 hectares against 2021 figure.
Trade promotion is done in associated with tourism introduction
In addition to request and instruct farmers to actively care for the crop to enhance the product quality, Luc Ngan district has focused on trade promotion activity and tourism development in orange and pomelo season.

Chairman of the district People’s Committee La Van Nam said: “In 2021, the Trade Fair of orange, pomelo and signature product in the district was cancelled due to complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic. But this year, local authority will continue organizing the event with small scale featuring 100 booths (accounting for 50 percent of previous ones), 30 of which display orange, pomelo and local signature and OCOP products while the remaining will introduce high quality Vietnamese goods and other OCOP and signature product of Bac Giang province”.
Within the event framework, the district People’s Committee plans to organize chain of promotion activities such as launching Luc Ngan district Fruit Week in connection with orchard tourism development in orange and pomelo season, establishing tourism service groups to pick up delegates to good gardens as well as natural landscapes…
Currently, the district has 29 tourism cooperatives and nearly 350 relic sites, landscapes, lakes, North East Cultural Tourism Village in Chu town, Bau Tien community-based tourism site in Dong Giao village, Quy Son commune which is under construction. c
Le Van Tien, Director of North East Cultural Tourism Service Cooperative shared the Cooperative is changing the operation of the tourism site, especially the management and accommodation service so as to serve visitors more professionally in the upcoming time.
