Luc Ngan: Over 21,000 tonnes of orange and pomelo sold

Updated: 20:50, 06/11/2019
(BGO) – According to the Division of Agriculture and Rural  Development (DARD) in Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province), the local farmers in the district cultivated more than 2,200 hectares of pomelo (1,700 hectares of sweet pomelo, 537 hectares of green skin pomelo) and over 4,100 hectares of orange (1,900 hectares of yellow flesh orange and 2,100 hectares of sweet orange).

Total orange output is expected to yield more than 41,800 tonnes and pomelo is over 15,100 tonnes. As of November 5, the local farmers sold over 12,800 tonnes of green skin pomelo and 8.36 tonnes of yellow flesh orange.

The farmer in Nghia Ho commune (Luc Ngan district) harvests the yellow flesh orange.

Now, the green skin pomelo is sold at the orchard with the highest price of 41-42,000 VND (1.82 USD) per kilogram, up 1,000 VND per kilogram comparing to last week price while yellow flesh orange is sold at 10 – 13,000 VND per kilogram (the same as the price in the early season last year).

Head of the district DARD Tang Van Huy said this year the citrus productivity in the district increases nearly 8,000 tonnes comparing to last year figure. The farmers enjoy smooth consumption also.

Now the orchard owners almost sold out the green skin pomelo while it is coming to the harvest season of the yellow flesh orange, thus the output does not go up dramatically.
