The bonuses include a luxury apartment in Hanoi worth over $1 million that Nam Dinh FC president Nguyen Van Thien announced to reward Son last week.
Previously, the Brazilian striker was given two cars worth nearly VND2 billion ($79,150). He was also awarded about VND500 million in cash from sponsors.
The Vietnam national football team received about VND40 billion in bonuses for winning the title. This amount is divided among members depending on individual contribution. Xuan Son is in the group of players receiving the highest bonus, expected to be no less than VND2 billion.
In addition, the Brazilian-born striker also received a bonus from the ASEAN Football Federation for winning top scorer and best player of the tournament.
After the Tet holiday in Nam Dinh Province, Son returned to Hanoi with his wife and son to continue the injury recovery process from a fractured leg sustained during the final game with Thailand.
The leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation and Nam Dinh FC affirmed that they will create the best conditions for Son to return to competition as soon as possible. If everything goes smoothly, he will return to football after about 8-9 months.
Impressed with Son's performance at the ASEAN Cup, Lee Dong-jun, the representative of former Vietnam national head coach Park Hang-seo, recently said he wanted to bring him to South Korea. However, Son said previously that he wanted to devote his entire career to Nam Dinh FC to repay Thien, who has given him immense support since day one.
Son, whose Brazilian name is Rafaelson Fernandes, received Vietnamese citizenship in September 2024. He became the first naturalized player without Vietnamese ancestry to be called up to the national team since 2009.
