Chau Van is one of the typical traditional art forms of Vietnam, associated with the cultural and religious life of Vietnamese people. It is related to the hau dong (mediumship) rituals performed in the “Practices Related to Viet Beliefs in the Mother Goddesses in Three Realms” that was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The festival aimes to honour outstanding individuals and groups for their efforts in preserving, practicing and promoting the artistic values of Chau Van singing as well as to contribute to raising public awareness of preserving and inheriting the beautiful values of the traditional art form during the period of integration and development.
