New invention of waste-to- electric energy with incinerator

Long started joining scientific and technical researching projects for young people since he was
Long and his classmate raised this idea to their teachers. In the beginning, they faced difficulties in assembling the product because they had not thoroughly grasped the principles and structure of the incinerator. Then, they took field trips to study some similar products in the districts of Luc Ngan and Hiep Hoa.
After studying, Long designed the incinerator model, consisting of a waste bin serving as the garbage dryer, primary and secondary combustion chambers, ash discharger and an oxygen feeder.
Garbage is ground and dried by the heat from the incinerator. Thus, types of trash with high humidity of 58 to 65 percent can be easily burnt. The primary combustion chamber was designed in sphere-shape, helping improve the burning capacity and increase the incinerator's internal temperature to 1,000 to 1,200 Celsius degree. This temperature can minimize the toxic gas and kill dioxin gas. Besides, during his experimental process, Long designed a 1.3 meter-high chimney and a lime water spray system to reduce the gas temperature and emission.
The project of electricity-producing garbage incinerator by Nguyen Van Thanh Long (L) won A prize at the “Youth’s Creativity Festival”. |
“I installed an oxygen feeder to keep the incinerator under continuous operation. Heat generated from the operation process is utilized to warm the external combustion engine when thermal energy is converted into mechanical energy. The electricity generator will convert mechanical energy into electric energy to serve the production and living”, said Long.
The price of each incinerator ranges from 10 to 30 million VND (430 USD to 1,290 USD) depending on its size. This model won the A prize at the “Youth’s Creativity Festival 2018" jointly organized by the Youth’s Union and Division of Education and Training of Lang Giang district as well as the encouraging prize at the “Scientific creativity contest for high school students” organized by the provincial Department of Education and Training.
