New resources for community tourism development
With about 28,000 hectares of fruit trees and many beautiful landscapes such as Cam Son lake and Khuon Than lake, and unique cultural heritages, Luc Ngan district has a lot of potential for community-based tourism development.

The district currently has 32 community tourism cooperatives, 28 of which were established in 2022. Some cooperatives have invested in facilities and operated professionally, welcoming a large number of visitors. They are Dong Dao in Quy Son commune; An Phat in Hong Giang commune; An Phu in Tan Son commune; and Binh Nguyen in Chu township.
For example, Dong Dao Tourism Cooperative currently has 15 hectares of fruit trees and nearly 100 hectares of lake area for tourism. Coming here, visitors can pick fruits in the garden, take a boat trip on the lake, ride bicycles, stay in homestays, camp overnight, and enjoy dishes of ethnic minorities.
Hoang Van Hiep, Director of the cooperative said since the lychee harvest season began at the end of May, the unit has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors, including many from other provinces.
Yen The district has many community tourism and ecotourism sites such as Ven village, Ngac Hai lake and Nga waterfall in Xuan Luong commune; Cau Re and Da Ong dams in Tien Thang commune. The district People's Committee has created conditions for the Ven village community tourism site to develop.
In 2022, the Ven village eco-cultural tourism product was recognized as a 3-star OCOP (One Commune One Product) product, becoming the first of its kind in the province to be starred.
According to Ngo Cao Kien, Director of Ban Ven Xanh Community Tourism Development Joint Stock Company, since the end of 2022, the company has invested in a model of camping in bamboo forests (about 20 tents), and sheep, goat and rabbit farms. It has also built more stilt houses and renovated swimming pools, tea hills and windmills, attracting tens of thousands of tourists.
The province boasts more than 40 community tourism cooperatives, mainly in Luc Ngan district. Each cooperative has from 7 to 10 members, along with associate members. In order to improve operational efficiency, cooperatives have stepped up promotion through cooperation with travel businesses.
As a result, the number of visitors to Bac Giang is on the rise. In the first six months of 2023, the province welcomed about 1.3 million tourists, up 44% over the same period in 2022.
To promote community tourism development, cooperatives play an important role. Therefore, it is very necessary to support and create conditions for them in terms of mechanisms and policies, human resources training, linkage in building quality tourism products.
According to the Bac Giang community tourism development project for the 2022-2030 period, the province will continue to support the replication of community tourism sites in some districts, especially 20 sites in the fruit tree area of Luc Ngan district.
By the end of 2030, local community tourism sites are expected to receive at least 1 million visitors per year, including 10,000 foreigners. The province will focus on developing community tourism models combined with cultural, historical, spiritual and ecological tourism.
This month, the provincial People's Council will consider and approve a Resolution on policies to support community tourism development in Bac Giang province in the 2023-2030 period. Beneficiaries are households, individuals, cooperatives, cooperative groups, agencies and units engaging in community tourism development.
