New Zealand increases number of scholarships for Vietnamese students by 56%
New Zealand is increasing its scholarships for Vietnamese students by 56%, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said.
During a meeting with over 200 students at the Foreign Trade University (FTU) on Wednesday, Luxon explained that New Zealand offers scholarships at the middle-high school, graduate and post-graduate levels.

This year, 45 NZSS scholarships will be available for 8th-10th graders in Vietnam, the largest number ever. The number of Manaaki scholarships for post-graduate students has risen from 30 last year to 39 this year.
Additionally, 14 NZUA scholarships will be offered to graduate-level students for the first time.
Luxon emphasized that Vietnamese students make significant contributions to both the academic environment and New Zealand's development.
He highlighted the country's growth in STEM fields, which are particularly appealing to Vietnamese and international students. "We have eight universities among the top 2% in the world," he added.
Currently, there are approximately 1,700 Vietnamese students in New Zealand.
The prime minister is having an official visit to Vietnam and attending the ASEAN Future Forum 2025 from Feb. 25 to 28, at an invitation by his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh.
BAC GIANG - On November 14, Keimyung University of Korea and Bac Giang branch of HANNA Trading and Service Joint Stock Company in Bac Giang city coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to award 20 scholarships to 12 graders in Bac Giang province.
The 2024 “SGC Sharing the Dream” scholarship programme was held in Hanoi on November 12 to award scholarships to students who have overcome adversity and excel academically.
BAC GIANG - In November 2024, the Bac Giang Provincial Association for Education Promotion and Samsung Electronics Vietnam Company Limited plan to award 210 Samsung scholarships to disadvantaged secondary and high school students in Bac Giang province who have achieved good or excellent academic performance.
After 25 years of establishment, the Vallet Scholarship Fund has granted nearly 50,000 scholarships worth more than 500 billion VND to excellent students nationwide.
BAC GIANG – The Rencontres du Vietnam (Meeting Vietnam) and the Vallet Foundation on September 21 organized an event to award Vallet scholarships in 2024 to 457 students in the northern provinces who have achieved excellent academic results, each worth 25 million VND for university student and 15 million VND for high school student.
The scientific and educational organisation "Meeting Vietnam" handed over Vallet scholarships, worth over 2.7 billion VND (108,473 USD) in total, to outstanding students in five Central Highlands provinces and south central Khanh Hoa an Ninh Thuan provinces at a ceremony in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province on August 28.
