Non-cash payment sales increased by nearly 3.9 billion USD

(BGO) - Following the Government's direction on promoting non-cash payment activities in the banking sector, for the first six months of this year, sales of non-cash payments of branches of commercial bank in Bac Giang province reached nearly 260 trillion VND, up 90 trillion VND (nearly 3.9 billion USD) over the same period last year.

Some branches had high sales of non-cash payments such as: Bac Giang branch of Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam reached 48 trillion VND, Bac Giang branch 2 of Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development reached more than 45 trillion VND while the provincial bank of Agribank gained over 27 trillion VND…

To achieve the above results, the Bac Giang branch of State Bank of Vietnam has recently focused on directing commercial bank branches to effectively implement the project of developing non-cash payment in Vietnam in 2021-2025 period which was approved by the Prime Minister on October 28, 2021.

At the same time, the digital transformation has been accelerated in the banking sector. Particularly, the branches have actively responded with various activities within the framework of "Cashless Day" 2023 (June 16) which runs through the end of June this year.

Accordingly, commercial bank branches have diversified non-cash payment methods such as: Payment via QR code; card payment, payment via mobile phone application, automatic debit, e-wallet...

To encourage customers to make non-cash payments, some banks have applied appropriate preferential policies; actively coordinated with payment acceptors for electricity, water supply, telecommunications services, supermarkets and restaurants to implement promotional programs.
