Non-cash payments encouraged
There is a large number of automated teller machines (ATMs) to meet the demands for withdrawing cash or bank transfer. A number of shops and services provide means of card payment. According to Dang Dinh Thao, manager of Dien May Xanh store on Hung Vuong street, there is an increasing number of customers using card payment who are mainly business persons, office staff or workers.

Apart from card payment, customers can use Internet Banking service (e-banking services). They can conduct almost bank transactions such as money transfers, account inquiries, invoice payment and savings via smartphones or computers connected to the internet instead of going to the transaction offices.
Non-cash payment is rapid and safe for consumers especially with transactions of big values and from far distances. It is safe because customers can avoid the risks of being stolen or torn when carrying cash. Besides, it ensures precise payments even for big amounts.
The State Bank of Vietnam encourages people to use non-cash payments according to the Scheme on non-cash payment issued with the Prime Minister’s Decision No 2545 and Decision No 241 to intensify non-cash payments for public services.

According to statistics of the State Bank, Bac Giang branch, about 200 ATMs and 210 POS machines have been placed and some 20,400 bank cards have been issued for customers in the province. In order to develop this method of payment, banks will boost promotion to raise awareness of the convenience of the transaction via bank account while reducing the use of cash payment.
Besides, the e-banking payment system will be improved and modernized. More ATMs and POS machines will be placed to meet the demands of local people for bank transaction outside the counters.
