Party General Secretary and President extends Lunar New Year greetings

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong has expressed his best wishes to all Vietnamese people, both throughout the country and abroad, at the beginning of the Lunar New Year 2020 – the Year of the Rat. Following is the full New Year’s message of the Party and State leader.

“Dear compatriots, comrades and soldiers nationwide,

The sacred moment of New Year’s Eve has arrived, and the Year of the Rat is returning to our beloved country!

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong extends Lunar New Year greetings on January 25.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I would like to cordially send my intimate sentiments and best New Year greetings to all the compatriots, comrades and soldiers throughout thecountry and to the Vietnamese community abroad. I would also like to extend wishes of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development to international friends and people of foreign countries all over the world.

The Year of the Pig 2019 has passed with numerous significant events. Our country has achieved many great and important accomplishments in almost all areas, leaving a good impression and giving us many valuable lessons. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I warmly praise and sincerely thank the compatriots, comrades and soldiers nationwide for these considerable outcomes, achievements and contributions.

Entering the Year of the Rat 2020, a year with many important events for our Party and nation and a year of conducting Party Congress at all levels towards the 13th National Party Congress, with high determination and new faith, the entire Party, people and army will continue to promote the tradition of unity and solidarity to overcome all difficulties and challenges and take substantial actions to successfully implement the set targets and tasks and create the driving force and motivation for thenation’s rapid and sustainable development in the coming time.

I wish every Vietnamese family and person a new year of good health, joy, happiness and success.

In celebration of a new spring with new victories, studying Uncle Ho’s poetry, I would also like to offer some verses:

Over 48,700 Tet gift presented to the poor
(BGO) – Responding to the campaign “Tet for the poor”, as of January 21, Bac Giang province called for the donation to present more than 48,700 Tet gifts in cash to the poor and near poor families via the Fatherland Front’s Committee at all levels, each worth 300 – 500,000 VND (total value hit over 19 billion VND or 823,500 USD). 
Vietnam Airlines flies outstanding workers home for Tet
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines have flown over 1,000 outstanding workers working in the southern provinces of Binh Duong and Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City back to their home town for the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Foreign ambassadors have extended their greetings ahead of Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival in a video featuring the national women’s football team.
