Peaceful parishes in Bac Giang
During the holy season, the bells ring from Thanh Gia Parochia in Tam Di commune, Luc Nam district, making the countryside more peaceful. Thanh Gia 1 village has 368 households, of which 340 are Catholic households with nearly 1,200 parishioners.

Promoting the role of residents in the movement “all people protect national security”, in 2022, the commune People's Committee collaborated with Dai Lam Parish to launch three Catholic inter-family groups in charge of maintaining security and order at Thanh Gia Parochia.
According to Nguyen Thi Nen, public security officer and head of the women's union and chief of Thanh Gia 1 village, the groups, with 33 members, join people in activities to maintain security and order, and traffic safety. On the 17th day of every month, they work to keep environmental sanitation in residential areas. When being called, they are all very enthusiastic and responsible.
“In catechesis sessions, we remind parishioners to abide by the guidelines of the Party and policies and laws of the State, and actively participate in local movements. In order to create cohesion and friendliness, we also invite district and commune police to report the security and order situation as well as tricks and activities of criminals,” she said.
In Le Loi ward, Bac Giang city - where the Bac Giang Parish Church is located, nearly 30 households of Dao Duong Parochia live alternately in residential areas, each with 1-2 followers. In 2021, the model "Catholic families self-managing security and order" was launched. After a period of operation, it has showed the role and responsibility of parishioners in building a safe, green, clean and beautiful residential community. Through this model, many parishioners have clearly understood their own responsibilities for maintaining security and order as well as fighting crime and social misconduct.
Secretary of the Party cell of Le Loi residential area Nguyen Van Thu, who used to be the head of the model, said: "Here, parishioners as well as non-religious residents maintain a good relationship and actively participate in fighting crime and building civilized residential areas. They do not let their religion practice activities affect the surrounding households.

For example, to prepare for important ceremonies, parishioners practice blowing trumpets and reviewing rituals, but they do all at appropriate times so as not to affect others. Especially in recent years, Bac Giang Parish has also given the church campus to the surrounding people to hold weddings, creating cohesion and friendship. They also encourage each other to "respect Jesus, love the country", work together to develop production, abide by the guidelines of the Party and the laws of the State, and build a peaceful and prosperous residential area.
In the province, there are about 27,000 parishioners in 75 parochias. Party committees, authorities and police at all levels have performed well the mass mobilization work toward the Catholic community, contributing to firmly consolidating the campaign of winning people's hearts. In Luc Nam, on major ceremonies of the year, images of red flags with yellow star fluttering at religious establishments and parishioners' homes create a cultural beauty and demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, patriotism, and national pride.
Not only unanimously building peaceful and prosperous religious villages, Catholics have enthusiastically responded to many programmes and campaigns launched by the authorities, thereby building a civilized, green, clean and beautiful living space.
