The PM also proposed the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union coordinate closely with the Association of Former Youth Volunteers and other relevant agencies to advise on laws and policies related to both former and youth volunteers forces. The Youth Union should support its members and youth volunteers to participate in socio-economic development campaigns, he added.
Le Quoc Phong, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, stated that following the 70-year tradition of the former youth volunteer force, the Youth Union has implemented various revolutionary activities, the most typical being the youth volunteer movement with dozens of millions of young people taking part in activities to promote socio-economic development and national defence.
Phong also added that the Youth Union always cooperates closely with the Association of Former Youth Volunteers in consultation with the Party and State on the regimes and policies to support former youth volunteers, as well as directing Youth Union members to organise practical activities in paying tribute to the former youth volunteer force.
At the ceremony, PM Phuc presented gifts to commend 70 outstanding former youth volunteers who have made positive achievements and contributions to national development.
On the occasion, the Youth Union awarded 70 savings books and 21 gratitude houses to former youth volunteers from disadvantaged backgrounds, while the State Bank of Vietnam donated VND8.3 billion to support the upgrading of the Co Noi Crossroads in Son La Province, a historical relic site dedicated to the former youth volunteer force.
